DVD Player

One application that probably does not effectively get used a lot is the DVD player.  Click Go at the top of the screen and then Applications.

and then look for DVD player and double click on it.

If you are going to show DVDs to your students, it would be best to use your laptop and LCD projector if both are available.  This allows the DVD to be played on a bigger screen than the TVs in the classroom, which can be much easier for all students to view and see.  If you are worried about the students being able to hear the DVD effectively, do not forget that an audio cable is already plugged into your LCD projector for use with its speakers.  You only need to plug in the other end of the audio cable into your headphone jack on the side of your computer and make sure that both the volume buttons on your LCD projector 1st and then on your laptop are turned up enough for all students to hear.
One thing you will want to make sure once the DVD starts playing or before you start playing it, is to make the DVD player play on your computer in Full Screen so it is also in Full Screen on the projector screen.  To do this simply click View and Enter Full Screen.  To get out of full screen at when you are done with the DVD simply press the Esc (Escape) key in the upper left-hand corner of your keyboard.
